The Casa Loma neighbourhood sits above its namesake, Casa Loma Castle, and continues up to St Clair Avenue, enjoying the glow of proximity and the appeal of the stunning architecture. The neighbourhood comprises three neighbourhoods: South Hill, The Republic of Rathnelly, and Wells Hill. People looking for a home in the Casa Loma area can expect to be a little surprised and charmed by the mix of housing and amenities, but the overall feel of the place is quite appealing.
Shopping

This is a mostly-residential area, but there are some great shops like South Hill Home and amenities (including an LCBO) along Dupont Street. Casa Loma’s fantastic location also gives residents easy access to Midtown, Downtown, and Yorkville for shopping.

Dining

Casa Loma is home to the popular Scaramouche Restaurant, voted one of Canada’s top 100 best restaurants by the Toronto Star. Another local hot spot is Playa Cabana Hacienda, a trendy hangout for reimagined Mexican meals and nibbles, plus over 50 tequila choices. A few other community favourites include Pour House Pub & Kitchen, Live Organic Food Bar, Roti Cuisine of India, and Ezra’s Pound.

Families in Casa Loma have access to a variety of public, private, and separate schools. Hillcrest Community School serves Grades JK-6 for those in Wells Hill, while Brown Junior Public School (with a French Immersion program) serves the same age range in South Hill and Rathnelly. Catholic schools in the area include Holy Rosary Catholic School, De La Salle College, and St Michael’s College School. Accessibility

The area is served by St Clair West station and Dupont station on the Yonge-University subway line. The St Clair streetcar and numerous buses also run through the area, giving you a multitude of transit options.

Homes

The houses here tend to be larger and individualistic, as original owners planned and built the homes in relation to the grandeur of the Castle. As a result, many of them now feature the possibility for basement apartments or larger family groups.
